Our History
"The American Dream"
In 1989 - bringing together their knowledge of chairs and business, married couple Doug and Judy Hart picked up their young family and moved to the USA to fulfill their American dream. Beginning with just each other and a huge vacant factory, they built the chairs, made the sales, and applied for contracts themselves.
Doug Hart is a 3rd generation furniture maker who had been working in chair manufacturing since age 16. Judy was an accounting whiz in college and also had experience as a pattern maker. The two met in Toronto, Canada, and married in 1975, setting the foundation for what would later become the Best Chair Factory with the Best Chair Building Crew, Seating Inc.
Our History Section 2
A key goal of Seating Inc. has always been to provide good employment for local workers in this small town. Despite increased pressure from overseas competitors, Seating, Inc. has remained committed to the American workforce – keeping the knowledge of how to make things right here in western New York.
Seating Inc.'s first employee, Duane Gibson, is still with the company today! Many employees have been with the company for over 15 years, with several over 20 and even 25 years with the company.
Our History Section 3
In 2007, Seating Inc. added the capacity to make our own inner wood, expanding our craftsmanship and semi-custom capabilities. Soon after, we purchased foam cutting and shaping equipment so that we could fabricate our own foam parts as well. In 2021, we purchased our first C&C machine, which helped us to keep up with the growing demands for our products. Our 70,000 sq. foot factory is now filled with productive employees working hard to get our customer's chairs out quickly, correctly, and on time.
Since 1989, Seating Inc. has carved out a market for our high-quality, built-to-order chairs. We sell commercially and on federal and state contracts through office furniture dealerships and manufacturer reps.
Historic Facility:
The historic building that Seating Inc. operates in has been a prominent feature of Nunda's main road since it was built in the early 1900s. It boasts 77,000 square feet of usable space and occupies almost a full block of the small town.

All are built to your order by the experienced production crew at our factory in Western New York using quality components – that we make ourselves or purchase from trusted long-time suppliers -and all are backed by a lifetime warranty.
